About Me

Hi, I’m Crystal — the artist behind Crystal Creates Magic, and someone who has always seen the world in color, shape, and big bold energy. Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. It carried me all the way to New York City, where I studied fashion at Parsons and spent years creating everything from bathing suits to costumes to custom wedding gowns.

Somewhere along the way, life pulled me into other creative worlds. I became a published queer‑fiction writer, an advocate for girl power and LGBTQ+ rights, and someone known for showing up loudly and proudly for my communities. But in all that movement, I drifted from my own art for a while.

Everything shifted when I started working at LAIKA. Being surrounded every day by so many badass artists — people who live and breathe creativity — lit something back up in me. I picked up my art supplies again, and it felt like coming home.

A couple of years ago, I discovered digital art, and I’ve been drawing ever since. When I’m creating, the world just… disappears. Hours go by. It’s the one place where my brain quiets and my imagination gets to run wild.

I’m endlessly inspired by pop culture, pop art, and the unapologetic joy of the 80s — the neon, the attitude, the rebellion, the heart. That energy shows up in everything I make.

Crystal Creates Magic is my love letter to all of it: color, queerness, girl power, nostalgia, and the belief that art should make you feel something — joy, connection, boldness, PRIDE or just a spark of magic in your day.
